The church

The foundation of a priory by the monks of Saint Benoît sur Loire is probably the origin of the parish. The people grouped around the small monastery mentioned in 1161, clearing and harvest fodder meadows along "La Petite Sauldre", working to develop these badlands.

Since the mid-twentieth century, hunting takes over agriculture and also dictates a certain architecture of "castles" at the bottom of hidden driveways. The town has several large properties as well.
